‘Cats weekend schedule adjusted, Seniors to be honored

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats’ baseball team’s four-game series with the Lincoln University Blue Tigers this weekend has been adjusted.
The Bearcats’ nine inning game on Friday has been cancelled and instead Northwest will play back-to-back double-headers Saturday and Sunday with first-pitch on Saturday set for 1:00 p.m. from Bearcat Field.

The Bearcats currently sit at 15-31 overall and 14-22 in MIAA play while the Blue Tigers enter the four-game series at 7-37 overall and 7-28 in conference play.

The series will mark the Bearcats’ final series of the 2012 season and they will honor six seniors between games on Saturday.  Seniors include: Landinn Eckhardt, Josh Parrish, Nick Caldrone, Sean Brady, Chris Green and Geno DeAngelis.

Senior catcher Landinn Eckhardt has played in 133 games at catcher while at Northwest having been a starter in 120 including having caught all 50 games in 2011.  Landinn has recorded 85 hits in his career including four home runs after transferring to Northwest from Illinois State University.  The St. Joseph, Mo. native led the 2010 Bearcats in RBIs with 31.

Pitcher Josh Parrish has made 33 appearances on the mound for the Bearcats including six starts.  Josh has accumulated a 3-6 record at Northwest and has earned three saves.  In 71.2 innings of work, the Springfield, Mo. native has struck out 32 including a career-high five batters against Nebraska-Omaha last season.

Senior pitcher Nick Caldrone has made 25 appearances on the mound while at Northwest after transferring from Central Missouri.  Since at Northwest, the Blue Springs, Mo. native has accumulated 21 strikeouts in 42.0 innings of work.

Sean Brady has made 26 appearances on the mound for the Bearcats including 12 starts, six of which were this season, and has accumulated a 4-3 record.  In 65.2 innings of work, the Kansas City, Mo. native has struck out 32 including a career-high five batters against Rockhurst University this season.

Chris Green has made 31 appearances on the mound for Northwest including 29 starts.  Chris is ranked ninth all-time in Bearcat history with 150.2 innings pitched and has struck out 84 batters.   He has accumulated an 11-10 record including leading the Bearcats with an 8-5 record in 2010; the eight wins are the fourth highest single-season total in school history.  In 2010, the Joplin, Mo. native recorded a team-high three complete games including a shutout as well as career-high 7 strikeouts against Emporia State while allowing just three hits.

Chris was named all-MIAA honorable mention in 2010 and will finish his career in the top ten all-time for wins with 11. 

Senior infielder Geno DeAngelis has played in 65 games for the Bearcats having started 56 of them after transferring to Northwest from Golden West Community College.  The Los Alamitos, California native has recorded 47 hits and 16 RBIs.  In March of 2011, Geno recorded three hits including a double and an RBI in the Bearcats 19-6 win over Newman.

Northwest will conclude the four-game series with the Blue Tigers Sunday with first-pitch of game one from Bearcat Field slated for 12 p.m.
