Hot swinging Bearcats head to Emporia
MARYVILLE, Mo. – After a record setting weekend the Northwest Missouri State baseball team will have its work cut out for itself as they open a four game series with the 16th-ranked Emporia State Hornets at Glennen Field Friday.
The Bearcats enter at 4-8 on the year and are coming off the first series win of the season over Fort Hays State. More importantly Northwest stands at 3-1 in league play while ESU is 6-3 on the year and coming off a series split in their MIAA opener with Southwest Baptist. The two teams will play single games Friday concluding on Sunday with a twin bill on Saturday.
While the Bearcat bats have been hot to start the season, Northwest is hitting .327 as a team; they will have to keep pace with conference leader Emporia State. The Hornets enter the weekend hitting at a .344 clip, however the Bearcat have had no problem scoring runs.
