Bearcats head to Oklahoma
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team continues their 2012 campaign this weekend as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. for two games apiece with Northeastern State and Arkansas Tech.
The Bearcats will open the weekend facing future MIAA foe, Northeastern State, Friday afternoon with a first-pitch slated for 11 a.m.
Northwest is looking for their first win of the season going into the weekend. The Bearcats dropped a four-game series to hard-hitting Central Oklahoma last weekend including a season-opening loss by one run in 12 innings.
Senior pitcher Chris Green is expected to take the mound in the weekend opener for the Bearcats after a solid outing in his first start. Green returned to the mound last weekend for the first time following season-ending Tommy John surgery last April. In his 2012 debut, Green tossed five scoreless innings allowing just three hits while accumulating five strikeouts.
Cameron Bedard will look to ignite the Bearcats offensively this weekend. Bedard is coming off an impressive opening weekend in which he hit .545 going 6-for-11 with two RBIs and a double.
Northwest will face Arkansas Tech to open Saturday followed by another match-up with Northeastern State. The Bearcats will close out the weekend with Arkansas Tech on Sunday.
