Bearcats lose game four with West Texas
CANYON, Texas-West Texas A&M got a seven-run fourth inning to break a 3-3 tie and take control on the way to a 17-6 victory over Northwest Missouri State Monday afternoon in Canyon, Texas. The Bearcats lost all four games of the series to the Buffaloes.
Northwest responded twice on Monday to tie the game after West Texas (14-2) took the lead, but an error in the fourth inning proved to be vital as West Texas scored 6 unearned runs in its seven-run fourth to take a 10-3 lead.
Geno DeAngleis tied the game in the top of the third after driving in Jeff Hastert and Evan Connell hit a two-run home run to left field to tie the game in the fourth inning. The Bearcats would cut the lead down in the sixth after a three-run inning. Alec Rosales drove in two with his first triple of the season and later scored on an error in the inning. West Texas would respond with three more runs of its own in the inning and tacked on four more in the seventh and eighth.
Chris Green got the start for the Bearcats on the mound. Green pitched three innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and struck-out one in his season debut. Anthony Moctezuma, Jeremy Tate and Josh Parrish combined to pitch five innings of relief and allowed five earned runs.
Next up for Northwest (0-4) will be its last non-conference game before MIAA play begins this weekend. The Bearcats will travel to Newman on Tuesday for a nine-inning game with the Jets at 3 p.m.
