Bearcats Split With 10th-Ranked Emporia State
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State split the day two doubleheader with 10th-ranked Emporia State Sunday afternoon at Bearcat Field. Northwest won game one 5-4 and had a rough second game, losing 15-2.
In game one Northwest would take a one-run lead twice, only to find themselves trailing each time after a pair of Calder Cody two-run home runs that gave Emporia State a one-run lead. Northwest would tie the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning after Bryce McCrary hit a triple into center field and would come around to score on a throwing error by Hornet shortstop Andy Cotton. Jayson Huett would shut down Emporia the next two innings before Nick Pfeiffer would hit a walk-off double to bring in McCrary for the win.
Pfeiffer went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI in the game. McCrary was 1-for-3 with two runs. Trevor Conner would go 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Jeremy Tate got the start on the hill for the Bearcats.
