Bearcats Lose Two at Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo.-The Northwest Missouri State baseball team dropped a pair of games Friday afternoon against Missouri Western. The Bearcats lost in game one 11-5 and dropped the second game of the doubleheader 2-0.
After trailing 6-1 in game one, the Bearcats got a four-run sixth inning to cut the Griffon lead down, before Missouri Western added five runs of its own in the sixth inning.
Cameron Bedard went 1-for-2 for the Bearcats and drove in two runs. Jon Henne Jr. went 2-of-3 with a run. Kreed Kurtz went 1-of-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Kenny Brengle got the start on the mound for Northwest and went four innings, giving up five runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
In game two the Bearcats gave up a run in the fifth and sixth inning in the loss. Henne Jr. and Matt Stice each went 2-for-4 in the game. Eric Mitchell and Chase Anderson each pitched four innings for Northwest, giving up one earned run on five hits and struck-out a total of seven batters.
Northwest (4-21, 2-10 MIAA) will finish its four-game series with the Griffons on Saturday afternoon, weather permitting.
