Bearcats Split With Missouri S&T
ARKADELPHIA, Ark.-Northwest Missouri State split a pair of games Saturday afternoon in Arkadelphia, Ark., against Missouri S&T. The Bearcats lost game one 4-3 in 11 innings and picked up their first win of the season in the second game of the doubleheader with a 5-0 win.
Bryce McCrary led the Bearcats in game number one going 2-of-5 with a double and scoring a run. Matt Stice also added a double in the loss and Nick Pfeiffer scored two runs for Northwest. The Bearcats tied the game up in the top of the seventh at three after McCrary and Pfeiffer scored. Chris Green got the start for the Bearcats and went four innings giving up one run on three hits.
Northwest got three runs in the seventh inning to help distance themselves from Missouri S&T in game number two for the victory as seven Bearcats recorded hits. Trevor Conner went 1-for-4 with a run and drove in two for the Bearcats. Landinn Echardt and Luke Lavicky each went 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Jeremy Tate picked up his first win as a Bearcat. Tate pitched all seven innings for Northwest and gave up just two hits and had six strikeouts to move him to 1-1 on the year.
Northwest (1-6) finishes its trip to Arkansas with two games on Sunday against host-Henderson State in doubleheader set to begin at noon.
