Disselhoff Leads Bearcat Offense in Day One of Western Series

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Bill Disselhoff went a combined four-of-six, recorded two RBIs and scored a run as Northwest Missouri State (9-16, 4-12 MIAA) suffered two losses to Missouri Western (17-13, 6-8 MIAA) in the first day of doubleheaders at Bearcat Field. The Griffons claimed both games with 8-3 and 8-1 scores.
Missouri Western scored half of its runs of game one in the first inning, Northwest answered with three runs to make it a one-run game after the 40-minute first frame. The Griffons added a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings and held the Bearcats to two hits in the final six innings.
Bret Harvel struck out five batters in his five-inning start. Ben Stedrosnky limited the Missouri Western offense to a hit and no runs in his 1.2 innings of work.
In game two, Disselhoff used a two-out single in the second inning to eventually score off a single from Kreed Kurtz for the only Bearcat run of the nightcap. Danny Malone recorded four strikeouts in his five and two-third innings of relief.
Disselhoff collected his fifth multi-hit game of the season and improved his batting average 31 points in today's doubleheader. Matt Stice went two-of-four in game one for his team-leading eighth multi-hit game of the season.
