Kurtz Notches Ninth Career Home Run in Losses to Washburn
TOPEKA, Kan. - Kreed Kurtz hit his second home run of the season and extended his hitting streak to six games as Northwest Missouri State dropped both games of today's MIAA doubleheader at Washburn today at Falley Field.
Northwest scored in each of the first two innings of game one to take a 2-1 lead against the Ichabods, but allowed three runs in each of the last two innings for the 7-6 loss. Jon Henne, Jr., picked up his 16th career multi-hit game with a two-of-three performance in the opening game of the series.
Kurtz' home run came in game two during three straight hits for the Bearcats during the eighth inning. Kurtz drove in Chris Benham, who reached on a center field single, for his first home run since Feb. 16. Benham notched two of the Bearcat's five hits in his first start in the last five games.
