BOLIVAR, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State baseball team split with Southwest Baptist winning game one 3-0 and losing game two 4-3. The Bearcats move to 12-4 (4-2 MIAA) and Baptist to 3-12 (1-6) after the split.
Game 1
Joel Epley tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits, in the 3-0 win. SBU's Kelly also went the distance, but gave up three runs on four hits.
Northwest struck in the fourth on a double steal. With Ryan Bledsoe at third and Britt Westman at first, Westman got in a pickle and Bledsoe scored.
The Bearcats added a pair of runs in the sixth on an RBI-double by Nick Pfieffer and balk.
Pfieffer was the only player, on either team, with a multi-hit game, finishing 2-for-3.
Game 2
The Bearcats couldn't plate a run in the last five innings, losing 4-3 in game two. Northwest led 3-2 after four innings, but SBU plated one run in the fifth and eighth.
Northwest had base runners in all but one of the final five innings, but stranded five runners.
Kreed Kurtz and Chris Benham went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Trevor Conner drove in the only run for the Bearcats.
