
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Northwest Missouri State senior left-hander Brian Lamers was named Wilson/Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Pitcher of the Week announced by the league offices May 8. Lamers threw for two-complete game wins including a shutout in road games for the Bearcats last week. This is the second such honor for Lamers this season, after he picked up Pitcher of the Week honors on April 17.
He tossed a four-hitter against Washburn on May 1 for a 9-0 Northwest victory, allowing two walks and striking out three in 85 pitches. Lamers then allowed six hits and two runs, one earned, in a 6-2 win at then-No. 9 Central Missouri on May 5. He struck out three, walked one and retired 11 of the last 12 batters faced.
Lamers has not lost since March 7, standing 8-2 on the season. He is a graduate of La Sierra High School and transferred from Chaffey (Calif.) College.
The Bearcats will be in action at the MIAA Baseball Tournament at Warrensburg, Mo. Northwest, the No. 3 seed, will take on No. 2 seed Emporia State on Friday, May 11 at 1 p.m.
