Hit Parade Give Bearcats 12-1 Victory Over Truman StateMARYVILLE - (stats) The Northwest Missouri State baseball team picked up a 12-1 victory over Truman State thanks to a nine run fifth.
The game was knotted at one when redshirt freshman Jon Henne led off the fifth with a single. Two batters later sophomore outfielder Chris Benham singled to start an eight hit parade that saw nine runs score and 13 batters reach the plate.
Starting sophomore pitcher Bret Harvel cruised to his fourth win logging 7.0 innings striking out seven and allowing just one run.
Jon Henne ended game 2-for-4, getting both his hits in the fifth inning, and sophomore third baseman Ben Malick finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Junior first baseman Britt Westman, senior shortstop John White and junior second baseman Stevie Bush all drove in two runs.
Northwest will take on Truman State again tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Two seven inning games are scheduled.
