Lamers Picks up MIAA Pitcher of the Week Honors
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Senior lefty Brian Lamers was awarded with the MIAA Pitcher of the Week for games played April 8 to April 15. Lamers, a 6-foot-0, 160-pound southpaw from Riverside Calif., earned his sixth consecutive decision without a loss with a seven-inning, complete-game effort in a 3-1 Northwest victory over Emporia State Sunday (April 15).
He retired 11 of the first 12 batters he faced, and didn't lose his shutout until allowing a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning. Lamers scattered four other hits, walked one and struck out two.
Lamers has not lost a decision since March 7, bouncing back from an 0-2 start to the season.
He is a graduate of La Sierra High School, and transferred to Northwest from Chaffey (Calif.) College.
It is the first MIAA Pitcher of Hitter of the Week honor for the Northwest Missouri State baseball team in the 2007 season.
Northwest travels to Pittsburg State this weekend for a four-game series starting Friday, April 20 at 6 p.m.
