Norris Earns MIAA Pitcher of the Week Honors
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Northwest Missouri State junior pitcher Josh Norris (Chillicothe, Mo.) was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week for April 10-16. In his one appearance last week, Norris scattered nine hits over 8 1/3 innings and allowed one earned run to get a 4-1 win over Pittsburg State on Saturday.
The transfer from Maple Woods Community College logged the team's longest outing of the season. In Saturday's win, Norris struck out three, walked one and hit three batters. PSU did not score until the ninth, when the Gorillas used two hits and a hit batter to push across a run and chase Norris from the game. Norris dropped his ERA to 4.05 on the year, which is second lowest on the team. He stands 2-1 overall.
A graduate of Chillicothe High School, Norris becomes the first Bearcat to win this weekly award since David Dugan on April 21, 2004.
