Northwest Drops Series With West Florida
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The final game in the series West Florida took three out of four, with the win tonight, 5-2.
The Bearcats scored the first run in the ball game when freshman John Henne (Elkhorn, Neb.) came around and scored in the third inning on a RBI by junior Tristan Stewart (Crystal Lake, Ill.). Stewart had both RBIs in the game tonight for Northwest.
However, West Florida's turn came around in the third inning, as they had four straight singles, and five in the inning. In that same inning senior Alex Budden (0-1) (Granville, Iowa) was knocked out of the ball game, giving up eight hits, five runs, all five were earned and not walking or striking out any in 2.2 innings of work.
Out of 23 hits in the game, only two hits were for extra bases, senior Will Newland (Ottawa, Kan.) got a double in the third, while Peter Antoske picked up his double in the fourth.
Northwest is now 1-3 on the season, while West Florida goes to 14-8 on the year. The Bearcats will play tomorrow at 5 p.m. against the University of Montevallo, in Montevallo, Ala., for a three game series. The game can be heard on 106.7 KZLX and at www.NorthwestBearcats.com.
