Bearcats Open up MIAA Tournament With Missouri Western on Friday

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- (bracket) The Northwest Missouri State University baseball captured the No. 3 seed in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) standings and will face No. 2 seed Missouri Western in the opening round of the MIAA postseason tournament. Northwest and Mo. Western will start at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 13 at the No. 1 seed Central Missouri State. The Mules take on No. 4 Emporia State at 3:30 p.m. in the other opening round game.

The Bearcats went 3-1 this season against the Griffons while they were 3-0 versus Emporia State. Most recently, Northwest lost a three-game set at #4 Central Missouri this past weekend.

The Tournament is double-elimination with the Friday loser's squaring off at 12 p.m. on Saturday and the first-round winners playing at 3:30 p.m. The champion will be crowned beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The suspended game versus Emporia State from Apr. 5th (rain) will not be finished. The make-up game was tentatively set for Monday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m. but even if Northwest wins, it will still play Missouri Western in the postseason.

Northwest finished its regular season at 33-22 overall and 20-10 in the league. As of May 4, Northwest was No. 3 in the North Central Region poll. The top four regionally ranked teams after the conference tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II Regionals at the No. 1 regional team. There is no automatic bid for the conference tournament winners.
