Bearcats Catch Another Win from Missouri-Rolla
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Northwest Missouri State took the win today for the sweep of Missouri-Rolla, 10-6. Northwest defeated the Miners twice yesterday. The Bearcats are now 28-17 overall and 15-5 in the MIAA. The Miners fell to 7-34 overall and 2-16 in conference action.
Once again, every Bearcat in the batting rotation got a hit today as they totaled for 15 hits. Drew Mettille was 3-for-3 at the plate and four other Northwest players had two hits each including Kyle Gallagher with his eleventh homerun on the year and John White with his first triple.
Matt Coons (4-2) started on the mound for the Bearcats and took the win. He pitched six innings, allowing four runs, striking out six batters and walking only one. Jeremy Tapps came in and pitched two scoreless innings. Lane McKay closed the game and gave up a two-run homer but struck out two batters to keep Northwest on the winning end.
After a rough start, the 'Cats have pulled their batting average up to .336 and their ERA sits at 5.44.
Northwest will play Truman in Kirksville on Wed., Apr. 27 at 1:00 p.m. (2-7)
