Northwest Ends Savannah Tournament with 6-2 Loss to Montevallo
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Montevallo defeated Northwest Missouri State, 6-2, today to extend its winning streak to nine and its overall record to 10-4. The Bearcats fall to 3-6 after a 2-4 week at the Savannah Invitational.
The teams were tied at one run each up to the fifth inning when the 'Cats pulled ahead by one. The sixth inning proved to be menacing for the Bearcats as Montevallo scored five runs (four earned) and topped out the score, 6-2 where it remained for the final three innings.
Starter, J.R. Servatius pitched the first 5.1 innings, allowing only one run (earned) and striking out four batters. Lane McKay began the relief effort. Travis Fouts followed up and allowed four runs on two hits and took the loss for the 'Cats. Brett Bognar finished the game with three K's in the last two innings.
John Chamblee claimed the win for Montevallo. He struck out four and gave up no runs in 3.2 innings.
Ryley Westman, Tristan Stewart, Drew Mettille and Cameron Dodd had two hits each for the Bearcats.
