Red-Hot Armstrong Atlantic Rolls Over Northwest 7-0
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Armstrong Atlantic baseball team picked up its 12th consecutive victory to open up the 2005 season with a 7-0 blanking of Northwest Missouri State this afternoon. The Bearcats fall to 3-4 overall.
AAU starter Chase Leatherwood went seven innings, striking out 11 batters and only allowing two hits in picking up his fifth win on the year. Northwest's Justin Hildebrand was chalked with the loss, his first in 2005, after going 4.1 innings giving up five runs (2 earned) on five base hits.
Drew Metille was the offensive show for the 'Cats with a 2x4 effort at the plate. The rest of the lineup could only manage two other hits.
The game was scoreless until the Pirates erupted for six runs in the fifth inning. They would later add one more score in the eighth frame.
Northwest will look for revenge with a single nine-inning game against Armstrong Atlantic tomorrow (Thurs.) with first pitch at 1:00 p.m. CST.
