Baseball Alumni Game Set for Oct. 17
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team has several scheduled events for the fall season. The ʻCats will participate n their annual Alumni game, slated for Sunday, Oct. 17. Also, the Bearcats will participate in the 100-Inning Game, Saturday, Sept. 25 and a scrimmage with Kansas City Community College (KCK), Sunday, Sept. 19.
The Alumni contest will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Oct. 17 with the opportunity for Northwest alumni to participate in possibly two seven inning games. The 100-Inning Game is an inter-squad affair and will start at 9 a.m., Sept. 25. The format for the 100 innings will be a little different with the use of a pitching machine and each team will be awarded six outs per at-bat (with the bases cleared after three outs.) Current Bearcat players will play all 100 innings and head coach Darin Loe thinks that his team will "try to show fans how the defense looks." The monies raised through concessions will go towards Bearcat baseball.
"It has been a great fund raiser in the past," said Loe. "It is a fun day and it gives the fans a chance to check us out."
After battling themselves in practice, the ʻCats will get a shot at taking on a different school in KCK this Sunday. Coach Loe feels it will be good to see the areas his team needs to work on.
"It is nice because all fall we usually have done inter-squad," said Loe. "Hopefully we can take a look at some different line-ups and see from that what works right now and what doesnʼt."
