Westman Signs with Bearcats
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State University head baseball coach Darin Loe has announced the signing of Britt Westman to a national letter-of-intent to play baseball for Northwest.
Westman is a senior at Smithville High School. He is a 6-3, 200-pound first baseman. During the 2003 fall season, Westman led his team in runs batted in, earned run average and stolen bases. He was named first-team all-MEC at first base and earned first-team all-district and second-team all-state for his efforts at first base.
Westman's brother, Ryley, is currently a freshman catcher at Northwest, and his father, Ben, played baseball for the 'Cats, also. Loe is excited about the newest member of the Bearcat Baseball program.
"I believe Britt has the ability and the experience to come in and contribute immediately as a freshman," said Loe. "He has great talent right now and will only get better because of physical maturity. He comes from a Northwest baseball family; and as he gets bigger and stronger, we expect him to be one of the top power hitters in the MIAA."
Westman will be a freshman at Northwest next fall.
