MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Northwest Missouri State baseball team swept a doubleheader from Truman State Wednesday afternoon at Bearcat Field. Northwest won game one, 12-5, and took the nightcap, 4-1. The Bearcats now stand at 30-15 overall, 16-7 in the MIAA.

Following a lead-off double and a sacrifice bunt, Bearcat starter JR Servatius (Jr., Ottawa, Kan.) uncorked a wild pitch that brought home the first Truman State run. The Bulldogs then took advantage of a Bearcat error to score their second run of the game.

The Bearcat bats were quiet until the third, when lead-off batter Mike Babb (Jr., Millington, Tenn.) was hit by a pitch and advnaced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Marcus West (Jr., Kansas City, Mo.). Babb then came home on an RBI triple by Cameron Dodd (Jr., Manteca, Calif.). Dodd then scored on a single by David Dugan (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.). After a wild pitch moved Dugan to second, Matt Coons (So., Dearborn, Mo.) singled to plate Dugan and give the 'Cats a 3-2 lead.

Truman tied the game with a single run in the fourth before the Bearcat bats took over in the fifth. Northwest plated five runs on four hits and an error to take a commanding lead en route to the 12-4 victory. Servatius picked up his fourth win of the season, going six innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits.

Pitching dominated game two, as all the offense took place in the third inning. Truman State once again took an early lead, pushing across one run in the top of the third, but the Bearcats would answer in their half of the inning.

Dugan got things going, drilling his sixth home run to right field. After a Brad Schwarz (Sr., Johnston, Iowa) single, designated hitter Tristan Stewart (Fr., Crystal Lake, Ill.) tripled to give Northwest a 2-1 lead. After the next batter was hit by a pitch, the 'Cats executed the double steal to perfection, as Stewart came home for the third run of the frame. The final run to be scored in the inning came home on an RBI single off the bat of Seth Evans (Jr., Lenox, Iowa).

Starter Justin Hildebrand (Fr., St. Joseph, Mo.) pitched his first complete game of the season to even his record at 2-2 on the year. Hildebrand went seven, allowing one run on just three hits. He struck out five and walked three.

The Bearcats' doubleheader against Peru State, originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 27, has been cancelled. The 'Cats will be back in action Wednesday, April 28, to face Washburn at Bearcat Field. The doubleheader against the Ichabods was originally to be played on March 17, but was cancelled due to rain.
