'Cats Complete Sweep of Reddies
| Bearcat Numbers WP: David Dugan (1-0) Doubles | ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Northwest Missouri State baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Henderson State, taking game three, 4-0, Sunday in Arkadelphia. With the win, the Bearcats are now 5-1 on the season. The 'Cats jumped on the board in the top of the first, plating three runs. Seth Evans (Jr., Lenox, Iowa) walked with one out in the opening frame and then stole second to get the offense going for the Bearcats. Drew Mettille (Jr., Urbandale, Iowa) followed Evans with another free pass, which put two runners on for Northwest's hottest hitter, Kyle Gallagher (Soph., Bellevue, Neb.). Gallagher came through, scorching a double that drove home Evans and Mettille and then came home to score himself on a bad throw by the Reddies. The 'Cats scored a single run in the eighth when a John White (Omaha, Neb.) plated Gallagher. Northwest pounded out nine hits and committed two errors in the win. The four runs by the Bearcat offense proved to be more than enough for pitcher David Dugan (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.). Dugan hurled seven scoreless innings, only allowing three hits and striking out two to earn his first victory of the season. |
