ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- The Northwest Missouri State baseball team improved to 4-1, taking two from Henderson State Saturday in Arkadelphia. The Bearcats won game one, 10-5, and game two, 13-5.

In game one, the Reddies jumped on the board first, putting up four runs in the bottom of the second inning to make the score, 4-1. After being held scoreless in the third, the Bearcat offense exploded for eight runs in the fourth.

John White (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) led off the inning with a double. Following a ground out, back-to-back walks to Ryley Westman (Fr., Smithville, Mo.) and Cameron Dodd (Jr., Manteca, Calif.) loaded the bases for Marcus West (Jr., Kansas City, Mo.). West hit intoa fielder's choice, driving home White to bring the 'Cats to within two.

Seth Evans (Jr., Lenox, Iowa) followed with a single that scored Westman. Following a walk and an error that brought home another Bearcat run, Andrew Donovan (Sr., Ballwin, Mo.) scorched a bases-clearing double that brought home three. Coming to the plate for the second time in the inning, White blasted his first home run of the season, to make the score 9-4 in the favor of the 'Cats.

Northwest never looked back, scoring a single run in the top of the sixth en route to the 10-5 win. Jeremy Teter picked up the win, going five innings and giving up no earned runs while striking out three.

In game two, Northwest jumped on the board first, tallying runs in each of the first three innings to race out to a 4-2 lead. The fifth inning proved to be the magic inning for the Bearcat offense in the second game.

The 'Cats took advantage of several key errors and wildness by the Reddie pitching staff to plate seven runs in the frame. With two outs, Northwest earned three straight walks to load the bases for Evans. Evans also worked a walk, forcing home a run. The next 'Cat run crossed the plate on a passed ball by the Henderson State catcher.

With runners on second and third, Kyle Gallagher (Jr., Bellevue, Neb.) cranked his second home run of the season, driving in three runs. Following the home run, pinch-hitter Drew Mettille (Jr., Urbandale, Iowa) singled and scored on the second home run of the inning. This bomb came off the bat of Brad Schwarz (Sr., Johnston, Iowa) and put the game out of the Reddies' reach. The Bearcats went on to win, 13-5.

Jeremy Tapps (Jr., Des Moints, Iowa) picked up the win, going four and two-thirds innings, giving up five earned runs and striking out five.
