MARYVILLE, Mo. – Fans are invited to the Bearcat Spring Showcase Saturday, April 7 on the Northwest Missouri State campus to enjoy a full day of tennis, baseball, softball and track and field.
Admission to tennis, baseball, softball and Saturday’s Northwest Open is free all weekend.
The day officially starts with track and field hosting the Jock’s Nitch Northwest Open at Herschel Neil Track. Action is set to begin at 9:50 a.m. with the men’s and women’s hurdles while throwing events will start at 10 a.m. Kate Walter will highlight the Northwest throwers as she continues her outstanding spring after becoming the only Bearcat to ever provisionally qualify for four events. Walter also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships with her throw in the shot put at the Mizzou Relays.
The Bearcat women’s tennis team will be in action at 10 a.m. against Central Oklahoma at the Frank Grube Tennis Courts. This will be the final home match of the season.
Softball is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch as they host Central Missouri in an MIAA softball double header. It will mark the second straight day for an MIAA double header at home for the Bearcats after Friday’s twin bill with Southwest Baptist beginning at 2 p.m.
The Bearcat baseball team is also scheduled for a 1 p.m. double header with MIAA rival Missouri Western. In addition, baseball will honor all military personnel with a “Tribute to Military Day” in the first game with the Griffons. Several special activities are planned during pregame and all active duty and veterans of the military are encouraged to arrive early to participate in a pregame ceremony.
