Message from Coach Steinmeyer | Message from Coach McCollum
MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University Department of Athletics is calling for a “whiteout” and giving away free T-shirts to a limited number of fans Saturday, Jan. 28, at Bearcat Arena when the men’s and women’s basketball teams take on Fort Hays State as part of the MIAA TV Game of the Week.
“We are excited to be featured in the MIAA game of the week,” said Northwest Director of Athletics Wren Baker. “This is a pivotal contest for both teams, and we hope to sell out Bearcat Arena and show the MIAA television audience what Bearcat basketball and Northwest is about. I encourage our fans to get here early to get their free shirt and to be ready to bring the rowdy to Bearcat Arena.”
Due to the television coverage, the women’s game is set for an official tipoff at 1:07 p.m. with the men to follow at approximately 3 p.m. Information on how to view the game is listed below or can be found via the MIAA website here.

The Bearcat men are looking to avenge their 83-64 loss that halted their perfect start. Northwest currently sits in a three-way tie atop the MIAA standings at 8-3. The Tigers are just one game out of first-place at 7-4.
Also during halftime of the men’s game, the 2012 UCA National Champion Bearcat Cheerleaders will be honored. Northwest athletics will also hold a reception in the lobby of Lamkin Arena following the men’s contest.
The Northwest cheerleaders claimed their second national championship in three years, knocking off eight-time champion West Georgia. The Bearcat Cheerleaders are led by Jason Sack who is entering his sixth season as head coach.
