This Week in Bearcat Athletics

Bearcat Volleyball has three games this week including the annual "Pink Out" game, football travels to Washburn and soccer has a pair of conference games this week in Bearcat Athletics.
The fifth-ranked Northwest Missouri State football team, (5-1, 5-0 MIAA) fresh off its 42-28, record-setting 42nd consecutive MIAA win against Emporia State on Saturday, will travel to Topeka, Kan., to face Washburn (4-3, 3-2 MIAA) on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from Yager Stadium. The Ichabods defeated Pittsburg State on Saturday, 35-34 in double overtime.
The Bearcats defeated Washburn last season in a thrilling 22-19 overtime homecoming win. Blake Bolles passed for 367 yards and a score in the game. Former Bearcat LaRon Council scored on a one-yard plunge to give Northwest the victory last season.
The Northwest volleyball team (9-9, 5-5 MIAA) will play three matches for the second straight week. The Bearcats will open the week with its annual "Pink Out" game against No. 4 Washburn (21-1, 9-1 MIAA) on Tuesday night. Match is set to start at 7 p.m. inside Bearcat Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
The Bearcats will finish the week on the road against Fort Hays State (7-14, 0-9 MIAA) and 15th-ranked Emporia State (17-4, 8-2 MIAA) on Friday and Saturday, respectively. Both matches will start at 7 p.m. The Bearcats are coming off a 1-2 record last week, with losses at Missouri Western and No. 10 Truman, but Northwest ended on Saturday with a sweep over Missouri Southern.
The Bearcat soccer team has a pair of games this week. Northwest (2-8-3, 2-7-2 MIAA) will host Emporia State (1-8-3, 1-7-2 MIAA) on Thursday from Bearcat Pitch at 2 p.m. and will travel to Washburn (3-6-3, 3-5-2 MIAA) on Saturday for a 6 p.m. game.
Northwest defeated Missouri Western 2-1 last Thursday behind goals from Kelsey Sanders and Emilee Davison and were defeated 4-0 by No. 2 Central Missouri on Saturday.
The Bearcat cross country teams will travel to Lamoni, Iowa on Saturday for the Graceland Invitational. The meet will be Northwest's final tune-up before traveling to the MIAA Championships on Nov. 6 at Fort Hays State. The Bearcat men and women both competed last weekend at the 22nd annual Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
