This week in Bearcat Athletics

Northwest Missouri State baseball will look to stay hot on the road, softball returns to action after more than a week's break and men's and women's tennis concludes the regular season and will have Senior Day, this week in Bearcat Athletics.

The Bearcat baseball team, winners in eight of their last 10 games, will travel to a pair of sites this week after a 10-game homestand. Northwest (15-21, 14-16 MIAA) will head to Nebraska Omaha to face the Mavericks (24-11, 20-10 MIAA) in a doubleheader on Wednesday beginning at 1 p.m. Northwest took a pair over UNO just last week in Maryville, scores went 6-3 and 9-1. The Bearcats also won three-of-four over the weekend against Pittsburg State.

Northwest will finish the week with a four-game series over the weekend down in Topeka, Kan., as the Bearcats will play Washburn (13-20, 13-16 MIAA) on Friday and Saturday. Friday's doubleheader will begin at 4 p.m. and Saturday's will start at noon.

The Bearcat softball team will return to action this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders on the road. Northwest (21-13, 10-4 MIAA) will face Truman (20-18, 4-8 MIAA) at 3 p.m. on Friday and will travel to Lincoln (14-22, 5-9 MIAA) on Saturday, first pitch is at 1 p.m.

The Northwest tennis squads will conclude their seasons this week. The Bearcat men (16-4, 4-0 MIAA) will host Nebraska Omaha on Tuesday and Graceland on Wednesday. The MIAA Tournament will also be held this weekend down in Kansas City. Northwest will face the winner of Nebraska Omaha and Emporia State on Friday at 11 a.m.

The Bearcat women (10-12, 5-2 MIAA) host Nebraska Omaha on Monday afternoon and will head to Kansas City on Thursday for the MIAA Tournament. Senior Day will be held on Tuesday as Northwest honors five seniors: Giovanni Auricchio, Malcolm Harrison, Daniel Quesada, Vijit Sehgal and Sureena Weir.

Track and field will also be competing this week as the Bearcats will send athletes to two different locations. Thursday through Saturday will be the Kansas Relays held in Lawrence and on Friday Northwest will head to the Central Missouri Mule Relays.
