Northwest cheerleaders place third, dance team fifth at nationals

ORLANDO, Fla.-Northwest Missouri State's cheerleading program placed third and the Bearcats' dance team finished fifth at the 2011 College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championships held at Walt Disney World Resort January 14, 2011.

Both Northwest programs are led by head coach Jason Sack. The Bearcat cheerleaders were the defending national champions.

University of West Georgia won its ninth cheerleading championship and first since 2008. Columbus State University finished second.

Orange Coast College won its 10th dance championship and first since 2005. University of Saint Thomas, Lindenwood University and Avila University placed second, third and fourth, respectively.
