Northwest Student-Athletes Boast Academic Success
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State student-athletes in all 16 sports are posting graduation rates that exceed Division II averages according to the latest Academic Success Rate (ASR) reports released by the NCAA.
The ASR reports place the average six-year graduation rate of Division II student-athletes at 71 percent. Northwest's student-athletes are graduating at an 87-percent clip.
Nine Northwest teams, including eight women's programs, boast an ASR above 90 percent. The Bearcats' football program has an ASR of 85 percent while the average Division II ASR for football is 53 percent.
The news comes on the heels of Friday's graduation ceremony inside Bearcat Arena on Northwest's campus where 26 student-athletes will receive diplomas. This is the fourth year that the ASR data has been collected for Division II institutions.
