Boerigter Appointed to Division II Management Council

MARYVILLE, Mo.-Northwest Missouri State Director of Athletics Dr. Bob Boerigter has been appointed to the NCAA Division II Management Council effective immediately.
Boerigter fills the vacancy left with the retirement of Missouri Southern State Athletics Director Sallie Beard.

Boerigter will complete the remainder of Beard's term, beginning immediately and ending in January 2010. He'll then automatically serve a full four-year term of office, which will conclude in January 2014.

The Division II Management Council handles the day-to-day operations of Division II. It is a governance group whose composition is based on conference representation.

The representatives featured on the Council include directors of athletics, senior woman administrators, faculty athletics representatives, and conference administrators. Management Council members serve terms of four years and are not eligible for election to another term on the Management Council until three years have elapsed.

The Management Council is committed to the principle of diversity of gender and ethnic minority representation at all levels of the Division II governance structure, and to working closely with the Presidents Council to enhance the efficiency and administration of the Division II governance structure.

Boerigter has served at Northwest since May 2001. He was at Hastings (Nebraska) College for 13 years before that. He also has held administrative and coaching positions at Adams State, Northwestern College (Orange City, Iowa) and Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington.

A former National Athletics Administrator of the Year, Boerigter is a former chair of the NCAA Division II Football Committee and is a member of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Executive Committee. He holds a bachelor's degree from Northwestern College. He also has a master's degree from Northern Colorado and a doctorate from Utah.
