Fourteen Home Events in Two Days
MARYVILLE, Mo.-Head tennis coach Mark Rosewell's pursuit of 800 wins, the softball team's first home games of the season and the Jock's Nitch Open highlight Friday's and Saturday's athletic events being hosted on the Bearcat campus. In all 14 events will be held during the two-day span.
Rosewell's tennis teams swing into action Friday afternoon with women's matches against MIAA foes Fort Hays State (1:30 p.m.) and Emporia State (4 p.m.). The men take the court against Emporia State starting at 2:30 p.m.
Rosewell has won 798 men's and women's tennis matches combined in his 27-year coaching career.
The Bearcat baseball team hosts Augustana in two seven-inning games at Bearcat Field starting at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. The teams will play two more Saturday starting at noon.
Not many sports would have you play 34 games before stepping foot on your home field. Unfortunately softball is one of them. Northwest's softball team plays its home opener at 3 p.m. Friday against Washburn. The action continues Saturday with a 1 p.m. doubleheader with defending national runner-up Emporia State.
Saturday's events start at 10 a.m. with Northwest men's and women's tennis teams hosting Washburn. Tennis will be played at both the Frank Grube and High Rise Courts on the Northwest campus.
Track and Field hosts the Jock Snitch Open Saturday on the Herschel Neil Track. The women's javelin and the men's and women's 10,000-meter run kick off the event at 10 a.m. The final event of the day, the 1,600-meter relay, is set to start at 4:15 p.m.
As always, you can follow all your teams and view the most recent results on northwestbearcats.com.
