Follow Bearcat Athletics on Facebook, Twitter

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State athletic department has announced the development of Facebook and Twitter sites for news surrounding its athletic programs. These sites will be used in conjunction with northwestbearcats.com, the official Web site of Northwest athletics.

"We wanted to make these options available for fans to follow our coaches and student-athletes," said athletics marketing and promotions director Morris White. "We live in an age where social websites and text messaging dominate communication, and with technology constantly advancing, we want to stay on the cutting edge of providing information to our fans."

The Twitter site, http://www.twitter.com/bearcatsports, allows Bearcat fans to sign up to receive text-message length updates ("tweets") either through their e-mail or cell phones. The updates will allow the department to instantaneously inform fans of any important breaking news or changes.

The Facebook page, which can be found by searching for "Northwest Bearcat Athletics" on Facebook, allows students and fans to receive updates and event notices through their Facebook accounts.

"These two popular external sites will allow a more interactive way for us to communicate with our fan base," said White. "We encourage all those who'd like to more closely follow our athletic programs to join both of these information sources."

In addition, Northwest has added a multimedia link to its athletics home page featuring Northwest's MIAA Scoreboard, RSS feeds and the latest Bearcat videos, posters and wallpapers.
