David "DC" Colt to be Inducted into MAATA Hall of Fame

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri State head athletic trainer David "DC" Colt has been selected for induction into the Mid-America Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame on Friday, March 16 in Topeka, Kan. The MAATA is the district level organization of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, covering the states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Colt currently serves as President-Elect for the Missouri Athletic Trainers' Association. He was inducted into the MATA Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. In 2004, he was named the National Athletic Trainer's Association Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer.

Colt received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University in Athletic Training in 1977. He earned his masters in education from Northwest Missouri State in 1978, and he is currently pursuing his Educational Doctorate from the University of Missouri. He has been the head athletic trainer at Northwest Missouri State since 1981.
