Students taking on-line courses for the Master's and certificate programs will need ArcGIS and its Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst and Geostatistical Analyst extensions. Below are two options for acquiring ArcGIS and the required extensions.
Through Northwest's site license, an enrolled student can obtain a one-year, time-out student edition of ArcGIS that includes the Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst and Geostatistical Analyst extensions. There is no cost for the license. Northwest charges a nominal fee to cover our cost of mailing the DVD to the student. To take advantage of this Esri promotion, students should contact Northwest's GIScience Graduate Program Director after enrolling for the upcoming term. Students may obtain a new one-year student edition each year that they are enrolled in the Master's or certificate program.
Purchase directly from Esri a student edition of ArcGIS and the Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Network Analyst and Geostatistical Analyst extensions. Contact Esri Telebusiness at 800-447-9778 for current pricing.
Students residing outside the U.S. should contact Esri's international distributor for their country. Pricing from international distributors may vary.
Students employed by an organization that uses ArcGIS may wish to ask their employer about using ArcGIS at work. Students within driving distance of Northwest Missouri State University can access ArcGIS in the GIS lab in Garrett-Strong 1050. The lab may be used Monday through Friday, 7:30 - 5:30 PM when class is not being held in the lab. Evening or Saturday access to the GIS lab may be arranged by contacting the course instructor during the first week of class.
Please be aware that you are responsible for obtaining access to ArcGIS and its extensions and for installing the software on your PC.
Students are required to have software that creates and reads Microsoft Word files (.docx, .doc), PowerPoint files (.pptx, .ppt) and Excel files (.xlsx, .xls). Students taking the course Digital Image Processing are required to purchase a student edition of ERDAS IMAGINE. Students are responsible for installing the software on their PC.
