1 p.m.
Graduates should be in line in the Student Rec Center and ready to enter the arena no later than 45 minutes before the ceremony. The Student Rec Center is located at the end of the long hall going north on the 2nd floor of the Lamkin Activity Center.
Graduates do not line up in alphabetical order. You will be grouped with the college you indicated on the purple form you turned in with your cap and gown order. If you have a double major, you may pick which college you would like to graduate with. Honor marshals will be assisting with the line-up of students. A faculty member will be there to help graduate students with the proper way to hold the hood.
Ladies - Dresses or nice slacks, blouses with no collar. You will need to safety pin or tape the white collar to the neckline of your robe. We will have double sided tape if you haven't done this before you arrive.
Men - Shirt and tie.
The platform speaker will instruct you when to rise and move forward to the stage. Your college Honor Marshal will be guiding you to and from the stage. The deans of the respective colleges will shake your hand and give you a diploma cover. (Your actual diploma will be mailed approximately six weeks after graduation). You will have your picture taken as you shake President Jasinski's hand and then again offstage in front of the Northwest backdrop.
After all candidates have returned to their seats, degrees will be conferred by the President. At this point, the tassel is moved from the right to the left side of the cap (mortarboard).
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Alma Mater will be sung. The words will be printed in the program, found on each graduates chair. Your Honor Marshal will be directing you to move from the back to the front when leaving the arena. Please move out as quickly as possible, as this will help alleviate the congestion around the doorways.
Return your rented cap, hood and gown to the basement of Lamkin within 45 minutes of the conclusion of each ceremony.
Doors to the arena open one hour before the ceremony for guests. We will be running shuttle buses to bring guests to and from the Arena from the lots west of the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.
The circle drive will be closed off in front of the arena for standby emergency vehicle use. Only those needing special assistance will be permitted to be dropped off in front of the arena. The lot west of the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building is reserved for handicapped parking.
For safety reasons, the aisles and the area closest to the stage in Bearcat Arena is off limits for pictures during the ceremony.
Please plan to attend the reception in your honor immediately after the ceremony. Weather permitting, there will be cookies and punch on the lawn by Colden Pond. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held on the lower level of the Lamkin Activities Center.
