Park Central Development, a community development corporation that works to strengthen and attract investment in neighborhoods in St. Louis’ central corridor, has announced the selection of Northwest Missouri State University alumnus Abdul-Kaba Abdullah as its new executive director after a regional search and selection process.
Abdullah’s career has included more than 13 years of municipal and governmental affairs as well as executive administration and total quality management experience in the nonprofit sector.
Abdullah has established himself as one of the premier young civic leaders in the St. Louis region. Prior to his appointment as executive director at Park Central, he served as city manager for the city of Berkeley, Missouri, where he was named in 2016 the St. Louis Business Journal’s list of “40 under 40” for his outstanding work in the region.
In 2015, he was recognized by the St. Louis American Newspaper Foundation for his accomplishments in management in municipal government and reform. He also served the city of St. Louis in the Affordable Housing Commission and Better Family Life as assistant manager of workforce development.
The Northwest Alumni Association presented Abdullah with its Young Alumni Award in 2016. In addition to earning his bachelor’s degree from Northwest in 2002, he holds master’s degrees in total quality management and management from Webster University. Abdullah is a native of St. Louis, where he resides with his wife, Andrea, and their three children.
