Tyler Richardson, a senior agronomy and agriculture business major at Northwest Missouri State University, will serve as one of four undergraduate directors on the National Board of Directors for the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
Tyler, a native of Keytesville, Missouri, will serve on the Board through March 2018. He will attend national board meetings in Memphis, Tennessee; Kansas City, Missouri; and Pittsburgh as well as any special meetings that may occur.
The Beta Rho chapter at Northwest nominated Richardson to serve. An application, two letters of recommendation from Alpha Gamma Rho alumni, and one letter of recommendation from an advisor were needed to complete the process.
The National Board consists of six alumni and four undergraduate students, all of whom hold membership in Alpha Gamma Rho. Other undergraduate directors selected are students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Kentucky and Iowa State University.
“I will represent the voice of chapters at Division II college and universities as well as smaller chapters,” Richardson said. “I can offer a different perspective and share new ideas.”
The undergraduate director represents the best interests of the fraternity, chapters, and all collegiate and alumni members. Duties and responsibilities include contributing ideas and comments on any aspect of the fraternity, serving on committees, and assisting in programing and financial matters.
“I am most looking forward to experiencing Alpha Gamma Rho from a national perspective,” Richardson said. “I have been very involved in our chapter and enjoyed attending Alpha Gamma Rho’s national convention in Omaha this past summer. I knew I wanted to serve Alpha Gamma Rho someday in the future. I did not think I would have the opportunity to serve on the national board now, but I am very excited for experience.”
Richardson has served his Alpha Gamma Rho chapter as vice noble ruler of recruitment and vice noble ruler of membership and development. He also has served as a delegate and vice president of judicial affairs for Interfraternity Council and as a Greek Week committee member.
Outside of Greek Life at Northwest, he has served as a student ambassador in the School of Agricultural Sciences. Richardson was a 2015 American FFA degree recipient and a 2013 Missouri State FFA degree recipient.
