Northwest Missouri State University student Kristen Hollabaugh submitted the winning art design to Career Services’ T-shirt contest this fall.
Hollabaugh, a senior graphic design major with a minor in advertising and interactive digital media, is from Marshall, Missouri.
“I like to do design contests for my portfolio pieces,” Hollabaugh said. “I thought it would be fun to enter and didn’t have a t-shirt design for my website yet.”
Judges selected the four finalists, and the winner was determined through a poll via Career Services’ Twitter account.
Designs required one color of ink with a transparent charcoal grey background.
“I used the Career Services motto as well as the Northwest ‘N,’” Hollabaugh said. “I did this to design something that was related to Northwest and Career Services, which is what they wanted.”
Hollabaugh is as a career ambassador in Career Services and was previously a web assistant.
“I have had my rèsumè critiqued many times,” Hollabaugh said. “I also always participate in mock interview day which has allowed me to connect with a couple different advertising agencies in Kansas City.”
Northwest’s fall Career Day is 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bearcat Arena. The annual event connects talented candidates with a variety of employers and graduate school program representatives to discuss internship and full-time employment. This event is open to all students, alumni and community members to ask questions, network and learn about opportunities available from attending employers.
Career Services helps Northwest students launch their professional careers by offering a variety of services and programming, including critiques of rèsumès, cover letters and application materials, and internship and job search assistance as well as its annual Career Days and Mock Interview Days.
By providing these tools for success, Northwest boats a three-year average career placement rate of 97 percent for undergraduate students and 99 percent for graduate students. This means that 97 percent of bachelor’s degree earners and 99 percent of master’s degree earners are employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation.
