    Benson attends discussion of legislative issues at Governor’s Mansion

    Dr. Joel Benson, professor of history and chair of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Northwest Missouri State University, was among faculty of higher education institutions throughout Missouri invited to attend a discussion at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion Nov. 17 about the state of Missouri politics, key issues and the outlook for the upcoming legislative session.

    Nixon offered brief remarks and took questions to encourage dialogue with guests. Benson was among about two dozen faculty members from throughout the state to attend.

    Benson, a Northwest faculty members since 1987, has taught numerous history courses at the University and supervised graduate programs. He received the College of Arts and Sciences’ Dean’s Faculty Award for Service in 2013.
