    Northwest welcomes new employees to start 2016 spring trimester

    Northwest Missouri State University welcomed 18 new faculty and staff members as it begins its 2016 spring trimester.

    The new employees, who are those hired at Northwest after the fall trimester began, were recognized during the University’s annual fall All-Employee Meeting Jan. 6.

    The new employees, including their positions and departments, are listed below.

    Claudia Araceli Hernandez Gonzales is an assistant professor in the School of Business.

    Grant Beggs came to Northwest in September as part-time custodian in Facility Services.

    Katrina Burden joined Northwest in November as a dispatcher in the University Police Department.

    Michele Collins is accounts payable supervisor in the controller’s office. She came to Northwest in September after 16 years in marketing and accounting at Speedline Technologies in Camdenton, Missouri. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College.

    Kori Davis joined Northwest in August as custodian in Facility Services.

    Nicole Falcone came to Northwest in October as a custodian in Facility Services.

    Danielle Koonce arrived at Northwest in August as Green Dot coordinator in Wellness Services. Previously, she was a sexual health educator and program coordinator for Student Health Services at the University of South Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in public health with an emphasis in health promotion and policy, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

    Matthew Lager joined Northwest in October as a groundskeeper in Facility Services.

    Kristin Little joined Northwest in September as campus visit coordinator in the Office of Admissions. Previously, she was a senior admissions representative for Bryant and Stratton College in Cleveland, Ohio, and recruited for Judson College in Marion, Alabama. A native of Maryville, she received her bachelor’s degree in communication from Northwest.

    Jessie Lundy is a hall director in Dieterich Hall and the Office of Residential Life.

    Rachel Mayfield is a counselor in Wellness Services. Prior to joining Northwest in October, she was a career counselor at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. She also served as counselor and assistant professor of psychology at Missouri Valley College. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and alcohol and drug studies from Missouri Valley College and a master’s degree in counseling from Lindenwood University.

    Matthias McCurren is an admissions representative in the Office of Admissions. He came to Northwest in September from Teach for America in Memphis, Tennessee, where he was a Spanish teacher. Previously, he served as an environmental educator with the Peace Corps in Nicaragua and an English professor at EAFIT University in Colombia. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in international studies with a focus on Latin America, cross cultural communication and Spanish.

    Kristen Peltz is assistant director of Wellness Service for counseling services. She joined Northwest in October and most recently worked in private practice in the Maryville area. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology and her master’s degree in counseling psychology, both from Northwest.

    Christopher Rhodes joined Northwest in October as a custodian in Facility Services.

    Wes Rockwood is a graphic designer in the Office of University Marketing and Communication. Most recently, he was a digital media intern at Pro Athlete in Kansas City, Mo. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwest in fine art with an emphasis in graphic design.

    Kylie Till came to Northwest in October and serves as transcript specialist in the Office of the Registrar. She previously was employed as an accounting coordinator at Hy-Vee in Maryville. She graduated from Northwest in 2013 with her bachelor’s degree in agricultural business.

    Elizabeth Willson is office manager at Northwest-St. Joseph. She came to Northwest in August from the Platte County Sheriff’s Department where she was communications supervisor in the Emergency Services Division. She earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northwest in 2010.
