Northwest Missouri State University’s School of Business is among the nation’s best, according to the consumer finance website NerdWallet.com.

Northwest was ranked No. 75 on the list of 100, which includes just four other Missouri schools.

“This is good news that helps validate what we are doing but encourages us to improve,” said Dr. Steve Ludwig, director of the School of Business.

The website reports Northwest’s $6,175 tuition – which ranks 16th among schools that made the list – and average aid package of $5,990. It also reports Northwest students graduate with an average debt of $23,264 but earn a median salary of $83,800 after 10 years.

NerdWallet researched 358 U.S. universities that offer business majors by looking at each institution’s affordability and prestige, how much graduates make and the amount of debt they carry after graduation.

Northwest’s School of Business, which operates within the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth College of Business and Professional Studies, offers bachelor’s degree programs in accounting, economics, business education, business management, economics, finance, international business and marketing as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees. The School also offers online degrees in business management, marketing and MBA as well as degree completion programs in business management and marketing at Northwest-Kansas City.

Interdisciplinary programming provides students with opportunities to interact with area businesses and complete projects that prepare them for careers. Profession-based education experiences, such as the annual New Venture Pitch Competition and the Knacktive strategic communication agency, also help students enhance their abilities to work within a team and present ideas to business professionals.

About 99 percent of undergraduate students earning a degree from Northwest’s School of Business secure a job or continue their education within six months of their graduation, according to the most recent data.
