Theatre Northwest announces auditions for fall productions

Northwest Missouri State University students of all majors are invited to audition for fall Mainstage productions and student-directed Lab Series productions for the 2015-2016 season.

Information about each production and auditions is provided below. All auditions will take place in the Studio Theatre at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.

Students interested in technical and crew positions should contact Pat Immel, associate professor of theatre, at pimmel@nwmissouri.edu.

Mainstage productions

“The World of Carl Sandburg,” adapted by Norman Corwin

A collection of poems, essays, and songs by one of America’s most beloved and well-known authors.

Auditions are open to any freshman or transfer student interested in becoming involved in theatre at Northwest. No prepared monologues required. Readings will be provided.

Performance dates are Oct. 1-4 in the Studio Theatre at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.

Auditions are at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and callbacks are 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2.

“Reckless” by Craig Lucas

In this zany dark comedy, Rachel Fitzsimmons flees her home on Christmas Eve when her husband informs her he has taken a contract out on her life. Encountering wickedly satiric situations and colorfully odd people along the way, “Reckless” chronicles one woman’s search for meaning in an increasingly absurd world.

Auditions are open to all Northwest students. Prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, two minutes maximum. Readings will be provided for callbacks.

Performance dates are Nov. 12-15 and Nov. 19-22 in the Studio Theatre at the Houston Center.

Auditions are 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, and callbacks are 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.

For more information, contact Katheryn Bilbo, assistant professor of theatre and performance, at kbilbo@nwmissouri.edu.

Auditions are open to all Northwest students. Prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, two minutes maximum.

Performance dates are Oct. 9-10 in the Black Box Theater at the Houston Center.

Auditions are 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, and callbacks are 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9.

“God of Carnage” by Yasmina Reza

Two sets of parents meet to discuss a playground incident turned ugly. While initially cordial, the adults devolve into the same childish chaos as the evening wears on. The play is a winner of Broadway’s Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy of 2009.

Auditions open to all Northwest students. Prepare two contrasting contemporary monologues, two minutes maximum.

Performance dates are Oct. 16-17 in the Studio Theatre at the Houston Center.

Auditions are 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, and callbacks are 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4.
