AdInk, the advertising club for Northwest Missouri State University students, on March 18, visited Intouch Solutions in Kansas City, Mo., where they enjoyed learning about the marketing agency, networking with its employees and participating in a resume review with human resources staff.
Northwest students participated in the visit free of charge through funding secured by Northwest marketing instructor Lisa Bishop.
Logan Compton, an associate search analyst with Intouch, is one Northwest alumnus the students interacted with during the visit, and he spoke of the advantages AdInk provided him. Founded in 1999, Intouch Solutions Inc. is a privately held marketing agency headquartered in Kansas City with offices in Chicago and New York. Employing more than 500 people, it specializes in solutions for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
“AdInk was huge in helping me figure out what I wanted to do with my life,” said Compton, a 2014 Northwest graduate. ”HR and I wanted to give students a chance to come to the agency and see what life at an ad agency is like firsthand. This is a great opportunity for the students to network with professionals and increase their job or internship chances.”
The students’ visit to Intouch followed AdInk’s 15th annual “Off Broadway” tour in February, during which 45 students toured a series of marketing and advertising agencies in Kansas City’s downtown and midtown areas. The tour also allowed students opportunities to participate in creative brainstorming sessions at the agencies and network with professionals.
AdInk is a Northwest organization for students interested in careers related to advertising, marketing, design and public relations. AdInk is open to all majors and hosts a variety of events and services for both on-campus and off-campus organizations. For more information, visit AdInk.org or follow it on Twitter @NW_AdInk.
