Northwest Missouri State University is once again the center of competition for regional and local high school show and jazz choirs. The University will host its annual show choir festival Saturday, Feb. 7.
The festival will take place on the stage of the Mary Linn Auditorium in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. The festival begins at 7:30 a.m., and final performances begin at approximately 6 p.m.
Nineteen high school show and jazz choirs from surrounding areas will attend this year’s festival, which places emphasis on competition and a positive educational approach. At the end of the festival, the top choirs in each category are awarded trophies and an overall winner will take home the sweepstakes trophy.
The show choir festival has been an annual event on the Northwest campus for more than 30 years. The festival performances are free and open to the public.
