The Northwest Missouri State University community collected more than 1,000 pounds of canned goods Nov. 19 during the annual “Turkey Trot” food drive sponsored by the University’s American Marketing Association chapter and Student Senate.
The student organizations invited students and residents of Nodaway County communities to support less fortunate people and traveled door-to-door, collecting canned foods for the Maryville Ministry Center.
Sigma Tau Gamma collected more donations than any other participating student organization, bringing in 335 pounds of canned food for the Ministry Center. The Northwest Dance Company collected 243 pounds, and Phi Mu collected 218 pounds of items. As a result, Sigma Tau Gamma was awarded $100 while the Northwest Dance Company and Phi Mu each received $50.
