Journal publishes Shin’s study of Korean Americans in business

Dr. Kyoung-Ho Shin, associate professor of sociology at Northwest Missouri State University, has published an article in “The Journal of Enterprising Communities: People and Places in the Global Economy.”

Shin’s publication, titled “Korean entrepreneurs in Kansas City metropolitan area: An immigrant community under ethnic local and global intersection,” studies how Korean Americans engaged in businesses of beauty supplies, laundry, grocery and restaurants have responded and adjusted to global trends in the last two decades.

Shin joined the Northwest faculty in 1998 and teaches urban sociology, sociology of health and illness and social theory, among other courses in the Department of Behavioral Sciences. He also advises the Korean Student Association.
