Northwest Missouri State University’s Advertising Club, AdInk, and Career Services are collaborating to host a professional portrait service and help students “Pump Up Their Profile Picture” in conjunction with the University’s Mock Interview Day.
Northwest students will have the opportunity on Wednesday, Oct. 8, to have quality portraits taken for use with their portfolios and social media accounts. The cost for the service is $6.
In preparation, AdInk members have spent weeks training on lighting, camera and background techniques, learning the tricks of capturing the perfect shot. AdInk also developed techniques to help students impress on their social media profiles.
Career Services discussed the need for professional pictures with AdInk last spring, and the student group recognized the opportunity to assist their peers.
“It’s awesome that AdInk and Career Services will offer this portrait service to students,” said AdInk Vice President Kelsey Chabot. “A professional-looking picture is a great way for students to boost their online professional profiles and stand out in the competition for jobs.”
Northwest’s annual Mock Interview Day will feature more than 25 employers offering opportunities for students to practice their interviewing skills and gain advice from professionals. Employers scheduled to attend Mock Interview Day include Cerner, Horace Mann Laboratory School, Hy-Vee, and Swanson and Russell.
Additionally, Northwest will host its fall Career Day Oct. 21. Career Day provides students with opportunities to interact with more than 100 employers offering employment and internships.
Career Services is located on the first floor of the Administration Building and provides career information to students and alumni exploring career opportunities. For more information, call 660.562.1250 or visit www.nwmissouri.edu/career/.
