Northwest Missouri State University’s Office of University Advancement has announced the naming of Robert Machovsky as director of alumni relations and annual gifts and Brandon Deets to the role of alumni and donor relations specialist.
“We look forward to fully integrating our alumni programming through a comprehensive engagement plan that will intentionally recruit, mentor, hire and support our current and future students and alumni,” Northwest Vice President of University Advancement Mike Johnson said. “Bob’s and Brandon’s talents and experiences will elevate our ability to create lasting and meaningful relationships through our alumni and friends network, while growing and sustaining our philanthropic culture.”
Machovsky came to the University in 2012 as annual giving manager and was appointed director of alumni relations last fall. In his new role, he is responsible for the planning and implementation of programs, events and projects that engage Northwest alumni and provide benefits to alumni and current students that assist to build a philanthropic culture of gifting.
Before coming to Northwest, Machovsky was manager of annual giving at Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla. He also was assistant director of annual giving at the University of South Dakota Foundation in Vermillion, S.D.
Machovsky earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and is working toward the completion of his master’s degree in higher education leadership at Northwest.
“I am honored to continue serving Northwest in my new role as director of alumni relations and annual giving,” Machovsky said. “Our team will advance and develop programs that will give alumni, students, friends and parents an opportunity to connect, promote and mentor all Bearcats for years to come. I look forward to strengthening the connections of the loyal and passionate supporters in addition to future members of the Bearcat family.”
Deets returns to Northwest from Vatterott College in St. Joseph, where he had served since 2010 in the roles of lead education coordinator, director of admissions and most recently as campus director. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwest in 2004.
In his role, Deets is responsible for helping to develop and plan alumni events and programs related to Homecoming, reunions and the annual Northwest Alumni Awards. In addition, he will assist with coordination of outreach and engagement activities planned by the Northwest Alumni Association’s 19 chapters.
“I am very excited and extremely grateful for the opportunities and challenges of this position,” Deets said. “Being the alumni and donor relations specialist will enable me to reach out and build strong, lasting relationships with both our current and future alumni. I see this position as an opportunity to steward donors properly and to make sure we appropriately thank those who have given back to the University. I also hope my involvement with all our alumni chapters will assist those seeking opportunities to volunteer.”
