The B.D. Owens Library at Northwest Missouri State University is excited to announce new MOBIUS membership collaborations with Tulsa City-County Library and the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries that enhance the University library’s ability to connect users to content.
These partnerships are major steps in the MOBIUS strategic plan to enhance resource-sharing by establishing collaborative working relationships with other entities.
Starting Tuesday, May 13, the MOBIUS catalog will provide the Northwest community access to an additional 1.7 million resources through a partnership with Tulsa City-County Library. These items are the first out-of-state library resources to be included directly in the MOBIUS catalog. All items will be requested and delivered in the same manner that MOBIUS items are currently obtained.
Founded in 1998, MOBIUS includes 70 members, which include 61 academic libraries, four public libraries, two special libraries, the Missouri State Library and two associate members, serving a total of 143 physical branches in Missouri. Today, the MOBIUS consortium shares more than 25 million library materials and serves more than 1.5 million people from the higher education community and the state of Missouri.
The Tulsa City-County Library, founded in 1961, has a central library with 24 branch libraries and serves more than 400,000 registered community members. The Tulsa system provides access to 1.7 million books, CDs, DVDs, periodicals, newspapers and other resources held by member libraries, resource centers and a research library.
The MOBIUS membership group has also announced a cooperative agreement beginning later this summer with the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries system to lend and borrow library resources between the two systems. This agreement provides the Northwest community quick and easy access to an additional 30 million items housed in academic, public and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming.
The B.D. Owens Library houses more than 260,000 books, documents and bound periodicals. Nearly 40,000 periodicals are available in in electronic format, and about 130,000 eBooks are available through the popular EBSCOhost platform.
